Turn of the Century Makeover

This turn of the century lakeside home lacked the utility and space required for a 21st century family of five and, sadly, neglected views to a generous back yard. Understanding the comprehensive goals and needs of the home-owner, U+B designed a multi-story addition, enhancing the overall functionality and efficiency of the home. The upper level of the addition includes a new master bath and dressing room while a guest room, bathroom and laundry were added to the new and existing basement spaces. On the main level a new mudroom and back entry were added to accommodate the families’ active children and a new dining area and bar were included in the kitchen, opening the back of the house to take advantage of views of the nearby lake and the redesigned garden. The new windows to the rear of the house allow light to pour through an open dining niche and into the kitchen.
